=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
February 19, 2000 -- Upper Saddle River, NJ, USA -- Responding to the
rising demand for Linux security information, LinuxSecurity.com aims to be
"The Linux Community's Center for Security." After an extensive period of
planning and development, LinuxSecurity.com the vision is now a reality.
The rising need for security information and solutions has grown
exponentially in recent years. The Linux and Open Source security arena
is progressing at a lightning pace. Many Security professionals believe
that the free software strategy that Linux employs provides a superior
vehicle for which to improve security. LinuxSecurity.com is focused on
being at the center of a process of distributing relevant news,
information, and product updates to ensure the secure use of Open Source
operating systems and products.
The site layout is set up in such a way that it makes finding Open Source
security-related information easy. Sifting through the information posted
all over the Internet can be a tedious and very time-consuming task.
LinuxSecurity.com helps position security professionals toward obtaining
the advantage against potential attackers.
More specifically, the site is organized in the following fashion:
Advisories -- This section includes security advisories from all major
Linux and BSD distributions, as well as advisories issued by vendors that
have products that run with Linux and BSD.
News Articles -- Current security news stories and events that directly
affect the Open Source community.
Feature Stories -- This is an area where a community member or
organization can review or discuss a security product they have recently
released for the Open Source community. We also invite articles on how to
implement a specific security feature or other security tips.
Guardian Digital, Inc., an upstart Open Source security company and
primary sponsor of LinuxSecurity.com, provides consulting, installation &
support and computer security services to businesses looking to use the
Linux Open Source operating system. LinuxSecurity.com is intended as a
pro-Linux and Open Source site that strives to provide objective and
helpful information for the general Linux and Open Source community.

Reply-To: feedback@web2ldap.de
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
HI!
I would like to announce a new version of web2ldap, a full-featured
LDAPv2+ client written in Python designed to run as web gateway.
It's available for free (GPL) from
http://www.web2ldap.de/
There's a demo running on:
http://sites.inka.de/ms/cgi-bin/web2ldap.py
Because there were many changes in the code (see below) I would like
to encourage users to heavily test this gateway and report success
or problems to feedback@web2ldap.de. Thanks a lot.
Ciao, Michael.
Changes:
The most important change is that web2ldap can now be started as
multi-threaded web server right out of the box. This speeds up
things enormously. And yes, it runs under Windows...

From: Emery Berger <emery@cs.utexas.edu>
Subject: The Hoard Multiprocessor Memory Allocator, version 1.5.1
Date: Wed, 23 Feb 2000 21:30:25 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Announcing release 1.5.1 of Hoard, a fast, scalable and memory-efficient
allocator for multithreaded applications on multiprocessors. Hoard
solves the heap contention problem caused when multiple threads
simultaneously call malloc() and free() (or new and delete).
Hoard scales linearly up to at least 14 processors and has guaranteed
bounds on memory consumption. You can use Hoard without changing any of your
source code: just link it in. Linking with Hoard can result in a
*dramatic* speedup of your application.
Hoard is distributed under the Lesser GNU Public License, so you may
freely distribute any application linked with Hoard. You can download
Hoard from the Hoard home page:
<http://www.hoard.org>
Supported systems include Linux, Solaris (GNU and Sun workshop
compilers), IRIX (with pthreads and sproc support), Windows NT, BeOS,
and new with this release, AIX.
