Whoa... hold on a sec, did I miss something? what do you mean by
'severed ties'??
This thread everytime it comes up strikes a chord with me. I don't think
I've posted since the last time this was a major thread..
(hey Yale Zussman at MIT, Remember me?!?!)
I was aware that APO National Board has some (non-voting) members of BSA
hierarchy on it, and that APO is represented in the Boy Scout Handbook,
National Jamboree, and in a few other places. I know that APO is founded
on the principles of BSA (oath and law). I don't know how THOSE ties can
be severed.
As both a Scout and a Brother, I feel rather ambiguous right now. As a teen,
Scouting changed my life. As an adult, APO changed my life as well. I owe
a great deal of who I am to BOTH groups. Depending on how APO is pulling
apart from BSA (or vise versa?), I can't help but feel myself pulled apart
in the process. Don't get me wrong... I feel that BSA's membership policies
are a bit outdated and perhaps contradict with what Scouting is about, but
I still will be hit hard by any 'cleaving' between APO & BSA.
If anyone could please enlighten me, I'd appriciate it. Private e-mail,
please. No need to fill everyone's mailbox with this now... maybe later
(if I have anything to say :) ), but no now.
Thanks
Leadership. Friendship. Service.
