um...did I miss something? The last I knew, the ties between were never
"severed." Wording is going to be changed in our bylaws that will more
clearly define the relationship that APO has with BSA (proposals for
the 1994 convention) in terms of a traditional basis for our founding.
The dialogue between the scouting executive and Gerry (APO Nat'l Prez,
for those that don't know already) apparently went well...
As an Eagle Scout myself, I do not really appreciate how much BSA does
discriminate, and as such, have hung up my uniform until they decide to
change. I still attend BSA functions (like Jamboree, troop meetings,
ceremonies)...just not in BSA uniform.
I would also like to applaud the Girl Scouts of America, in their recent
decision to improve their religious toleration (it was in the Washington
Post, last week, I think...)
Please remember...traditionally, we were founded on the ideals of the
Boy Scouts of America. That does not mean their is a formal relationship...
Also, as passed at the 1992 Convention in Boston, relations with
other Scouting organizations are encouraged.
I hope this clarifies things....if not, Ellen (or Randy, or several others
will correct me and/or be willing to clarify things further...)
