Hello,
I'm an alumni of iota phi, but am currently working at San Diego State univ.
where Alpha Delta has just reactivated. I am trying to help them get organized
but have several problems:
1. Many of the active members graduated so membership is very low, and there is
much confusion over rules etc.
2. Money is a big problem with very few members, and high membership fees (~35
per semester including national) may be a factor in trying to get people to
join.
I only became involved with them several weeks ago, but I am concerned that
they
are floundering. I cannot be an official faculty advisor since I am not
employed by the university itself, but I can come to meetings, and give advice.
As an alumni advisor, what should I do to help them along? Does anyone have
suggestions of service projects?
Regarding money- are they allowed to get outside sponsors for events, or even
get
companies to sponser a pledge class all semester? What else is possible to get
money(The university is very tight with money to student organizations, and less
than 10 members aren't enough to have a great bake sale)
Any ideas and suggestions are appreciated.
Kathleen McNamara
