While I don't think this is right, this probably
happens with many greek organizations and other
organizations with rituals. There was a movie made in
the early 90's that was produced by an alumna of my
sorority, and there were names/colors, and other
things from my sororiity ritual that were present in
the movie--anyone not familiar with our ritual would
not notice this, but to a sister it was obvious.
There have also been ritual lines actuallly in a few
works by a famous children's author whose wife is in
my sorority. Although I have not seen Drumline, I
understand that it is based off the music fraternity
Kappa Kappa Psi (and my roommate was mad about that
when she saw the movie.) I think it is kind of cool
when something from an organization is used and not
made obvious, so only members of that organization
would notice it. Using ritual lines on a web page
directly related to the organization, however, is
another thing.
