All-

Alpha Delta Tau chapter has basic requirements written in our bylaws which state the following:

A pledge member, before initiation into active membership must fulfill the following requirements:
1) Have completed twenty (20) hours of service to the campus, community,
nation, and the chapter to be approved by the Pledgemaster.
2) Pay all necessary fees prior to initiation.
3) Pass all examinations given by the Pledgemaster by 80%.
4) Make an appreciable contribution to the pledge class project.
5) Become familiar with the brothers of the chapter.
6) Show knowledge of the history of the Fraternity.
7) Receive an affirmative vote in the chapter as prescribed by Section 8 of this
article.
8) Any other requirements, within reason, that the chapter may set.

We provide in our pledge books given to each pledge a detailed list of requirements which are based on the above and go into more details (like requiring the wearing of the pledge pin). This requirements are gone over with the pledges during the first meeting to make sure they know what the requirements are and what to do if they have any issues with the requirements. A copy of this sheet may be found at the APO Leadership Clearinghouse website, if you want to see it, and its found at our chapter website as well. I recommend that other chapters contribute their pledge requirements to this site so that others may make use of them.

I am from Matt Cross's section. While we don't have the pledges sign a form of understanding, what he states about making the requirements clear to both actives and pledges is something we have always done, and feel its the right way to do things.
