There is an old concept used in some chapters called "Bull Pledge." Here,
the chapter takes a vote on a pledge that did not complete the requirements
during the term of his/her pledge class, but is still interested in
becomming a Brother. The chapter decides whether or not to extend "Bull
Pledge" status to the potential member in question. If they choose to do
so, then the pledge is automatically considered a member of the next pledge
class. Depending on the chapter, the pledge in question may get to keep all
progress they have made in the program, or may be required to start back at
the beginning with the new pledge class. However, this does allow the
pledge to keep their status and continue the pledging process without having
to start all over (IOW, rush, pledge initiation, etc.).

It may be wise that whatever your chapter does decide to do, make sure that
it is drafted into the form of a policy and added to your chapter's bylaws.
