When I pledged, we were taught the scout oath and law. That seems
sufficient to me. I don't see how administrative information such as
headquarters, councils, and the like teaches the spirit of scouting
that Frank Reed Horton used as his Standard of Manhood.

berate the point: chapters should be aware of our history, and use it
to the ends they see fit. If they don't establish links with the
Scouts, that's fine if their chapter works. If a chapter finds it's not
working, it might be wise to re-establish links with a Scouting
movement as a chance to re-energize their service and fellowship
program. However, without understanding some of the knowledge of our
history, the links may seem alien and uncomfortable. We should all be
informed, and then make the correct decision for us.</P>
