The first of the chapters at historically black schools is
Johnson C Smith University in North Carolina which chartered on April
17th, 1947.
I don't know whether those first brothers at JCSU were our first non-white
brothers. We might have had a "Wu" or a "Chang" at Stanford or a
"Hernandez" at San Diego State in the 1930s, I don't know. But I do know
that Alpha Phi Omega was still ahead of its time compared to other college
fraternal groups in being multi-racial in the late 1940s...
