I pledged at Alpha Chi where DSKs are active considered annually. Towards
the end of each spring semester, DSKs are discussed at a regularly scheduled
chapter meeting. Any person whom any brother wants to be considered is
discussed at that meeting. Typically, there is at least a run through the
list of graduating seniors. Voting happens by secret ballot after the
meeting so that people have time to think about what they have heard.
Typically, it requires a 3/4 majority for someone to be awarded a DSK. Some
years no DSKs are awarded, one *highly unusual* year there were 12 (and they
were all well deserved). Most years, 1 or 2 DSKs are awarded.
