The Convention was a great success, and many thanks to all who worked to
make it happen!
On my return to DC, we had an emergency landing at our destination at
Dulles Airport here in Washington, with fire engines, etc., waiting for
us at the end of the runway. I wasn't really concerned until I heard one
of the cabin attendants ask the people in the exit row (right in front of
me) whether they were OK was could assist if needed. Landing gear
problem. Everything turned out OK but it was a little disconcerting, to
say the least. KInd of puts things in perspective.
I want to thank all of the voting delegates for putting up with me
chairing the gender discussion on the 29th. It was frustrating for
everyone but was exemplified our principles, which is what is really
important. I can't tell you how much I appreciated, and was moved by,
the ovation as I left the podium. Words cannot express my feelings or
gratitude. You guys were great!! Those of you who were there will
understand when I say that it was "the Christmas episode, and Kenny did
survive!"
