Is this the software that ops is using to do backups?  Make sure it
is; the recent backup software from Transarc requires the backup
daemon to be running on the db servers and stores te backup database
online, rather than in files on the backup client.

Since Athena is not running said server, it is clear that they are not
using the recent backup software.  So, I want to make sure that we get
the software they they are using.

Go ahead.  Yes, this should be done relatively often.  Actually, I
think it is safe to just copy the new directory over the old one.
Files that get re-writen should be replaced, but it is perfectly safe
to keep old DB files around.
