Yes, there is a maximum recommended "stub" length for SCSI buses.  I 
just checked the SCSI-2 and FAST-20 specs, and it appears to be 10cm 
for each (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!).  So, your "==" of 
4cm should work perfectly.
