while we're on medium sense errors, I also have a problem.
Chain 1. AIC7880 onboard (term.), 9G SCSI, Sony SDT-9000, Toshiba CD-ROM
(term.)
Chain 2. Adaptec Ultra2 controller, 18G SCSI
linux, libc 5.4.38, kernel 2.2.10 SMP, bru 15.0
A week ago I had my 18G drive go bad, grinding like anything, got it
copied over to a new drive before the SCSI errors started.
The DAY after I replaced it, the 9G drive does the same thing, got almost
all of that copied over before the errors started.
A few days after that, my tape drive is being odd..some days backing up
fine, some days not at all, some days just a few gigs. The tape drive is
about 2 years old..been thouroughly cleaned once.
I see this from "dmesg"
st0: Error with sense data: Current error st09:00: sense key Hardware
Error
Additional sense indicates Internal target failure
st0: Error with sense data: Current error st09:00: sense key Medium Error
Additional sense indicates Internal target failure
st0: Error on write filemark.
st0: Error with sense data: Current error st09:00: sense key Medium Error
Additional sense indicates Internal target failure
Any help or insight is appreicated. The hard drives themselves I have had
go bad due to grinding in many-a servers. No major environmental changes
going on.
