The aic7xxx driver as released with the 2.0.35 kernel was a broken
version. There are patches and a whole new install package of the 2.0.35
kernel (know as "2.0.35-2.aic7xxx5.1.0") available from the author, who
just moved from ftp.dialnet.org to www.redhat.com. These packages are
available as both rpm and tgz's at the dialnet site (at least for a while
longer) and should soon be available from Redhat, if not already.

My 2.0.35-2 kernel recognized my card, but found no tape drive, Zip drive
or scanner. The newer one with the 5.1.0 version of the aic7xxx driver
works perfectly. In following the progress of that version to general
release, I know the author spent a lot of effort on embedded 7xxx chips as
well, and some time on the newest Ultra-2 versions, although those may
still be a little flaky.
