Hi,
I have the following problem: when I install Linux Red Hat 5.1 from with
the boot floppy in expert mode (I'm a newbie) my adaptec 2940 (bios version
1,11) is detected and used to install linux.
But when I reboot the scsi controller is gone. (When I reboot 10 times it
will be detetected 1 time)
I have one ultraplex (32x cd-rom), one plexwriter (4x cd-rom writer)and an
external hp 5p scanner.
All of the cd-roms have a jumper block enabled.(without the the jumper it
does not work either)
I tried another cable and I tried to patch the driver.
I think the only way to solve the problem is to install from an IDE-cdrom.
My question: can I load the aic7xxx driver when its not started during boot?
I found new drivers-> If I compile them do I simply have execute them?
thanks
