Mabye that is the best course of action, although itīs quite unusual
that Adaptec scsi-controllers (of any model) fail to work with the
proper driver intergrated into the kernel. If it is possible, You could
consult Your vendor; he/she might have another Adaptec 2940 You
could borrow just to see if the same problem occurs.
In either case there are other host-adapters that should work
fine: NCR/Asus with the buslogic chipset is not a bad choice as theyīre
cheap too.
