Hello,

I have the following:

Tyan Tiger 100 motherboard with one 300 MHz PII
Buslogic(Mylex) BT-958D wide diffential SCSI adapter
3 9.1GB Quantum atlas II drives
3 drive wide SCSI cable
wide differential SCSI III passthru terminator

I bought these drives from www.onsale.com and one of them reports itself =
as 9100WD as expected. I managed to verify this one and do a low level =
format on it. The other two report as DS20I (whatever that means). I =
can't low level format either of these (format failed message =
immediately). I can verify one of them and will try the other soon. One =
of the DS20I drives failed the verify with another cable.

But even with just the 9100wd drive connected (and the terminator =
hanging loose on the end of the cable I can't install redhat 5.1.

I boot off of the CD and go to expert mode. The card is found and the =
description looks good but I always get timeouts on target 0 and it =
keeps resetting the SCSI bus.

When I started having problems I changed the BT-958D settings to the =
safe ones (and reenabled the power up options). I assumed this should =
solve any cabling or termination problems with the slower speeds and =
narrow operation.

Here are my questions:

1) Why does the redhat install disk keep timing out?

2) Why can't I format the DS20I drives?

3) What are DS20I drives?

4) Has anyone else managed to make a similar setup work? And how?

Thanks,
   Jason P Schanuel
