Hi,
  Just a little update:

The formatable drive actually reports itself as a Quantum XP39100WD. The =
other two can't be formated (format failed!) on the low leve format. =
Also one of the two unformatable drives always fails the verify with =
"verify failed! No Sense".

Even assuming the two DS20I drives need to be returned, I would still =
like to be able to install Redhat 5.1 on the remaining (supposedly good) =
drive.

    Hello,
    =20
    I have the following:
    =20
Tyan Tiger 100 motherboard with one 300 MHz PII
Buslogic(Mylex) BT-958D wide diffential SCSI adapter
3 9.1GB Quantum atlas II drives
    3 drive wide SCSI cable
wide differential SCSI III passthru terminator=20
    =20
I bought these drives from www.onsale.com and one of them reports =
itself as 9100WD as expected. I managed to verify this one and do a low =
level format on it. The other two report as DS20I (whatever that means). =
I can't low level format either of these (format failed message =
immediately). I can verify one of them and will try the other soon. One =
of the DS20I drives failed the verify with another cable.
    =20
But even with just the 9100wd drive connected (and the terminator =
hanging loose on the end of the cable I can't install redhat 5.1.
    =20
I boot off of the CD and go to expert mode. The card is found and =
the description looks good but I always get timeouts on target 0 and it =
keeps resetting the SCSI bus.
    =20
When I started having problems I changed the BT-958D settings to the =
safe ones (and reenabled the power up options). I assumed this should =
solve any cabling or termination problems with the slower speeds and =
narrow operation.
    =20
    Here are my questions:
    =20
    1) Why does the redhat install disk keep timing out?
    =20
    2) Why can't I format the DS20I drives?
    =20
    3) What are DS20I drives?
    =20
    4) Has anyone else managed to make a similar setup work? And how?
    =20
    Thanks,
