This is why I don't buy DATs from auctions. They ALWAYS fuck up. *ALWAYS*.
WITHOUT FAIL. I'd bitch like mad at Onsale, they should refund or
exchange if it's within warranty period. If they won't, or want to charge
you for it, scream at the BBB in their state. And $249 for a refurb really
isn't worth it, IMO.

Other than that, if you want, I could take a look at it. I've got a lot of
experience fixing DDS/DDS2/DLT tape drives, after all the Exabytes at work
that failed just outside of warranty. I don't make any garauntees, of
course, but I'll be happy to try. Drop me an email privately if you want
to discuss it further. :)
