I have been using a DLT 2000XT on a dedicated 53C810 controller for
almost two years. The backup server is a dual P90 with Linux 2.0.x and
Amanda. The machine is backing up ~13 GB compressed dumps every night.

I am backing up around 10 Linux boxen using e2fs dump. A couple of
them have filesystems around 16 GB (i.e. they are dumped directly to
tape).

When I started using Amanda I had a few problems with dump under Linux
(I think it was in RedHat 3.0.3), but they were solved by upgrading
the package. Never had problems with newer distributions, neither libc
or glibc based.

The only problems I have with dump are the inevitable lseek errors
when the filesystems being backed up are busy. But that goes for HP-UX
and Solaris too.

No problems here. But then again: I don't run 2.1-series on production
machines. Not even SMP-servers.
