DLT 7000 with BusLogic on Linux, ext2 "dump"

Has anyone tried using a DLT 7000 (or DLT 4000) tape drive under
Linux -- ideally with the BusLogic (BT-958 or BT-958D) and using
BudTool (on top of dump, cpio, or tar) as your backup software.

If you have (successful or not), I'd like to hear if it works for
you, if you've had any problems, or any other useful information.

I'm also curious to know if anyone is successfully backing up large
numbers of Linux hosts using the ext2 dump. We tried using it some time
ago, but had problems with exceptions (under 2.1) and lots of leftover
(or runaway?) dump processes. We then switched to using GNU cpio for
Linux backups.

Thanks.

Dan
