I must agree.  If I don't powerup my cdwriter, my cdrom changes from sdb
to sda, making all of the links and fstab entries unusable. If I unhook
my cd or burner to hook it up to another machine, it does the same.  I'd
be nice if scsi id 1 was sda, 2 was sdb, etc.
