We recently purchased a Philips CDD2600 and a BusLogic FlashPoint LT
controller for semi-public use in our department.  Worked on the first try
with cdwrite and hasn't ruined a disc yet (tapping wood now...).  Your
mileage may vary, some assembly required, batteries not included, not to
be taken internally, etc.

I don't believe it should be very dependent on the controller, so long as
the controller is supported by linux, is properly configured, and *works*.
