Thanks for the information. There are two files there, and I can't find
any information on how to apply the new firmware..

I did, however, find this information:

--------
Note: This document pertains to Quantum Fireball, series TM and
ST, SCSI disk drives only.

It is highly recommended that customers running Microsoft NT (3.5x and
4.0) and Adaptec 2940 SCSI host adapters (all models) upgrade the SCSI
adapter drivers to the
most current versions.

The default drivers that ship with both NT 3.5x and NT 4.0 have the
potential to fail under a QUEUE FULL condition. Versions 2.00 and greater
of the Adaptec AIC78XX.SYS NT driver resolve this problem. Currently
version 2.10 is available from the Adaptec web site (www.adaptec.com). The
file is located under SUPPORT, SCSI HOST ADAPTERS, AHA-2940, DOWNLOADABLE
DRIVERS. The file name is 7800WNT.EXE and it contains the drivers for both
NT 4.0 and NT 3.5x.
---------

While it says 'Fireball-specific' could it be related to the 2940?

Think Quantum will exchange them (four of them :( ) for the Viking's?
Possibly I can call at seperate times for each, claiming they are
defective, and since the Viking looks to be the replacement model...
