  This drive may need a firmware upgrade.  Some Quantums
  had firmware problems and improperly (open to debate)
  issued queue_full conditions when their queue wasn't
  full.

It's worse than that: Atlas II firmware LXY4 has a bug whereby it may sometimes
become catatonic shortly after a Queue Full occurs.  I demonstrated this bug to
Quantum back in June, but no new firmware has yet been released.

I just checked Quantum's FTP site and it looks like there is a TESTCODE
directory with LYK8 firmware; perhaps that will fix these problems.
