I'm still having problems with the Adaptec 2940 PCI SCSI adapter when
I'm using the Exabyte 8505XLE tape backup. I've got the latest aic7xxx
patches (Jun 14). I'm using the 1.2.10 kernel
It seems to backup the 1Gig DEC drive, and it gets through most of the
2Gig Seagate drive. Near the end it locks up the system. The LED
indicator on the SCSI adapter and the tape drive stay lit up solid.
It also hangs if I do a remote backup to the unit (tar cfv
host:/dev/st0 ...) so it happens even if the local drives aren't being
accessed.
I have tried disabling disconnection of the tape drive in the
Adaptec SCSI bios setup, and I've tried slowing down the transfer
speed. No luck.
Any suggestions? Is there any way I can get debugging output to see where
it's screwing up?
thanks
