I saw exactly the same with my ASUS-PCI/E-P54MP4
Neptun Board (NCRPCI-3.06.00) and the NCR 53c810
with the M 3243 4.3 GB disk.
I have no real solution. I tried different things, repartitioned
my drive, etc. Somehow I managed not to see this message
for the last few month, and I hope I'll never see it again.
Are you running a recent kernel?

I'm pretty sure it's not the BIOS. You don't need to upgrade.
