Thanks everyone for your recommendations.  It looks like that Travan is a
good deal at $139.

I also like corpsys.  I have been to their site before, and called to
inquire about this drive:

For $99 they offer a six year warranty on this drive as well.  Its a huge
beast, though.  Does linux support changing of tapes?

I'm also worried that by the time I buy the external case, and the $99
warranty, I'll be up to that $500 that I wanted to avoid..

Guess I'll wait a while and make up my mind for sure..
