I got my 4345WS from Dirt Cheap Drives,
http://www.dirtcheapdrives.com, for $599 about a month and a half ago.
The original died after about three weeks, but I got a replacement and
it's been humming ever since. We'll see what happens in the long run.

My primary controller is a 2940UW. It's been doing a great job so
far, no problems, even with a motley collection of SCSI devices
ranging from a 3-yr. old scanner to the Tomahawk. (I recently moved
all the old stuff off to a separate controller and left my two UW
drives on it.) Maybe I'm just lucky, considering all the bad stuff
I've heard about the Adaptec here and on linux-kernel. I'm very happy
with it.
