Hi all. I've been researching controllers and hard disks, and would like
some opinions on what I'm thinking.
It seems to be difficult to get Fast drives at this point. I've just
bought a UDB, and going to be putting an external disk case on the box.
What is a good disk for this UDB, that is still available?
I have a 2940UW for my server, and would like to get another drive for it.
I was looking at the Barracuda 2.1G, which is only like $450. Is the
Ultra standard what defines SCSI-3? I have always heard these are good
drives, but are there any caveats?
I found a Micropolis Tomahawk 4.1G for $647. Are there any known problems
with these drives?
Does anyone have an experience with caching SCSI controllers and Linux? I
would think it would not be a wise investment, but wanted to get another
opinion.
Does anyone have any references of places to get drives?
How about CDR media? There must be places with prices better than $2 or
$3 each..
Thanks,
Dave Wreski
