Hello ,
I am having a lot of problems with my HDD .
I have installed linux RedHat-ver-4.0.0 ,
with kernel ver 2.0.18.
The error format is like this:
--------------------------------------------------------
scsidisk I/O Error: dev 08:05 , sector XXXXXX
scsi0: MEDIUM ERROR channel 0, id 6, lun 0, CDB:
Request Sense 00 00 00 10 00
Current error sr08:05 : sense key medium error
Additional sense indicates unrecoverd key medium error
------------------------------------------------------------
During the kernel compilation I had given ,
CONFIG_SCSI_NCR53C7xx=y
CONFIG_SCSI_NCR53C7xx_sync=y
CONFIG_SCSI_NCR53C7xx_FAST=y
CONFIG_SCSI_NCR53C7xx_DISCONNECT=y
Initially I had thought that there is some problem with
the Linux software which I got in the CD's , so I changed the
kernel with another (slackware) ,which was working perfectly on
the other machine. Error are continuing , but errors after picking
the new kernel may be due to bad-sectors created previously.
I tried to install linux on a new machine , but again,same
are problems comming , the machines were previously
ok with Win-95 OS.
Only the istalled LILO is same for both machines.
I will be very thankfull for the solution.
Regards,
Rohit Srivastava.
