Can you suggest any other disk brand of similar price and better
performance?
I haven't been tracking prices on the really low end drives, but I've been very
impressed with the IBM Ultrastar 2ES (DCAS) series. They are 5400rpm, quiet,
cool, and perform well in my limited experience with a borrowed unit. The 4GB
models are right around $400 locally (obviously not relevant to your location).
