Hello,

We are trying to install Redhat 4.1 (2.0.27) on a Gateway 2000 system.
The
Gateway has an Adaptec AHA 2940 SCSI controller with a Seagate ST19171W
9GB
disk drive. During installation, if we select "check for bad blocks"
during
make file system phase, the installation never finishes, but rather a
disk
access is made (light blinks) followed by 2 short beeps.
If I do NOT select "check for bad blocks", the install goes to
completion.
But then I do a "e2fsck -c" on the last partition of the drive. It runs
for quite a while with no problems, but then I start getting

SCSI host 0 abort (pid 81255) timed out resetting
SCSI bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0
aic7XXX (reset) target/channel 0/0
aic7XXX (reset_device) target/Channel -1/A
...

There are several more messages that spew out and then the messages are
repeated. Anyone have any ideas?
TIA!

Gary
