OOPS and block on freelist not free copying SCSI CD

While copying a CD-Rom with SCSI CD-Rom to SCSI disk got the following oops.
kernel 2.0.30, pre-patch 2.0.31-2 + Gerard Roudier's buffer patch.
System: GA586hx MB, 64Mbytes dram, ncr53c8xx v2.3a, SYM8751SP scsi
controller, ne2000 ISA clone.
CD-Rom errors are only apparent using the SCSI CD drive. Copying the same CD
using an IDE CD-Rom drive is OK.
SCSI CD drive is an old Toshiba 3301. SCSI CD-Rom driver loaded as module.
Warning: defective cdrom (volume sequence number). Enabling "cruft" mount option.
