PROBLEM:
When I try to use a Jaz drive on my Linux machine,
various things will cause this error:
Aiee: scheduling in interrupt 00123d49
EXAMPLE - fsck
Trying to put a filesystem on my Jaz drive, with checking
(-c), causes it. This has happened 3 times, always at the same
address. The machine lists a screenful of this error and goes
catatonic. I have to pull the battery to reboot.
If I don't try to check the whole drive, i.e., do this:
mkfs -t ext2 -v /dev/sda1
then it works. Always in the past, I've checked the complete
surface of new disks before using them. What's going on here?
EXAMPLE - du
One I have the file system (w/o checking) created and mounted,
trying to do
du
will cause the same "Aiee". Again this is quite repeatable.
DETAILS
IBM Thinkpad 755CD
Linux 2.0.30
pcmcia-cs-2.9.6
Iomega Jaz drive on their SCSI PCMCIA card.
THINGS TRIED:
I changed the IRQ from 5 to 9, but that didn't change anything.
I tried removing the Ethernet card.
Help anyone? Could you please email me since I'm not on
this list. (In fact, since I found it by a web search, I don't
know how to get on it.)
Thanks.
