I also use an Asus SC200 NCR 810 card and I've had similar problems: When
booting the system, the ncr7,8xx would sometimes hang after trying to
abort some command - then I had to turn my
computer off and on again and try again...

Meanwhile I have switched to Gerard Roudier's ncr53c8xx driver (version
1.18d) and since then I've never encountered this problem again! (However I
still experience such hangs when booting Win95 with the standard driver.)

So you should at include version information of the scsi driver you're
using! If you didn't do it already, I would recommend upgrading to the
lastest ncr53c8xx release which can be found at:

    ftp://linux.wauug.org/pub/people/gerard-roudier

Special thanks to Geraud for his excellent work on the ncr53c8xx driver!
