The 9c50 chip is an old Future Domain device, now taken over by Adaptec. I
have found Future Domain parts ultra reliable and one of my Linux boxes
still uses a Future Domain 16c80. Solid as a rock - not very fast but very
reliable.
The chip is supported by the seagate.c driver in Linux, although whether it
makes a difference by being on the sound card I don't know. Look at the text
at the start of the seagate.c file for details.
Dos drivers can be found at www.adaptec.com. Look for the file pwrscsi4.exe.
