Speaking of DAT's I'm having a bit of a problem with 2. I have these:
Conner something8000
Vendor: ARCHIVE Model: Python 28388-XXX Rev: 5.AC
Type: Sequential-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Archive 4586NP autoloader
Vendor: ARCHIVE Model: Python 28849-XXX Rev: 4.CM
Type: Sequential-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Both are DDS2. Tapes written on the Conner cannot be read (at least not
yet successfully) on the autoloader. I've tried using tar backups with
the block size set (vi mt -f /dev/st? setblk N) to 0 and to 8192. At 0, I
can read the first few files from a tape. At 8192, I get nothing but
errors on the autoloader when trying to read tapes from the Conner, like:
st1: Error with sense data: extra data not valid Current error st09:01:
sense key Medium Error Additional sense indicates Medium format corrupted
I've not tried taking tapes from the autoloader to work to read on the
Conner. Both drives are able to backup and restore files from tapes they
wrote to.
