I'm still not getting very far ... I'm in the
   telinit 1
   umount <unused filesystems to save fsck'ing ...>
   insmod g_NCR5380 ...
<complete and immediate system crash - insmod line doesn't even get
     into .bash_historyhistory>
   <Big red button>
cycle ...

I've at least managed to find out the right port address - which was wrong
before. I found a `findports' program (under DOS) with my scanner driver
software, and the only difference between running it with and without the
scanner driver in memory was the presence/absence of 280 in the free ports
list. Voila.

But ...

# insmod g_NCR5380 ncr_irq=255 ncr_dma=255 ncr_addr=0x280 ncr_5380=1

still crashes the system spectacularly. I'm working with 2.0.26 ATM,
generic SCSI compiled in, g_NCR5380 as a module.

I had a quick look on c.o.l.hardware, and found a portion of a quoted
message from someone else complaining about a complete system lockup when
trying the g_NCR5380 driver ... so is it just me, or is there a problem?

Any help would *really* be appreciated.

Cheers,

Nikhil.
