Looks like you're using a Slackware "kitchen sink" kernel...and the wrong 
one.  Do yourself a favor and compile a kernel with only the drivers you 
need.  You also might need/want to disable PnP mode on the 3c509 
depending on which kernel version (actually 3c509.c version) you end up with.
