I'm thinking on setting up DV/X for running my computer bulletin board (I'm
already running DESQview). I have an old 386 CPU and was figuring I could
run the BBS on that and use a Pentium running Linux as an Internet firewall.
I will have a third computer running Windows for Workgroups that is also on
a TCP/IP LAN.
I want to be able to telnet from both the Linux and the WFW boxes and launch a
local logon to the BBS or just access/run/ftp files there while viewing the
i/o over the network. I also want to be able to access the running BBS task
over the network and monitor how things are going without having to put a
separate physical monitor on the BBS box.
If you have some familiarity with how this can be done using DV/X, I would
appreciate it if you could share this knowledge with me or point me somewhere
that the details can be found. I don't relish the idea of laying out over
$100 until I have some assurance that I can meet my objectives.
By the way, I will be using NE2000-compatible ethernet cards.
Thanks in advance,
Bruce Bowman
