                Xuser for Linux, release 1.00
                =============================

We just uploaded to ftp.icce.rug.nl (directory pub/unix), sunsite.unc.edu
and tsx-11.mit.edu the first release of our user-administration tool:

                    Xuser Version 1.00

Xuser combines the functionality of useradd, usermod, userdel, and passwd in
an X-application. Xuser allows the systems manager to manage the user-accounts
by offering an interpretation of, e.g., the fields of shadow-password records.

Also, xuser assists the systems manager when new users have to be created by
offering appropriate (i.e., usually handy) defaults, which are fully
configurable to a particular system setup. Configuration is realized by means
of an application defaults file (XUser) or command-line options.

The distribution contains the sources, a binary program, and gzipped
documentation in postscript- and plain text-format, and general installation
instructions, etc.. Xuser is distributed under the rules of the GPL.

Xuser requires:
                    X11R6 (obviously)
                    the xforms-library
                    the shadow-password suite.

The xforms-library may be obtained from, e.g.,

            ftp://ftp.icce.rug.nl/pub/unix/xuser-extra-bin.tar.gz,

or from it's official sites:

            ftp://bloch.phys.uwm.edu/pub/xforms
and
            ftp://ftp.cs.ruu.nl/XFORMS/linux

On-line documentation about xuser is also obtainable from our WWW-server
http://www.icce.rug.nl, immediately accessible as:

        http://www.icce.rug.nl/docs/programs/xuserdoc/xuser.html

Questions or comments about xuser should be directed to:
