Hi,
This is to remind you all that there's still a Linux Cookie List, which still
grows (though not as hard as it used to, so here's why I want to remind you
all). The list contains funny quotes, excerpts from code, or whatever might
produce a chuckle.
If you want to see some cookies, just telnet to cookie.icce.rug.nl under a
given port:
telnet cookie.icce.rug.nl 4000
is an index page
telnet cookie.icce.rug.nl 4001
is a sample of some generic cookies
telnet cookie.icce.rug.nl 4002
is a sample of a Linux cookie, this is what you probably want
telnet cookie.icce.rug.nl 4003
dumps all Linux cookies to the screen, this is probably what you
don't want, there's an easier way to get the whole list.
So, the port to use for your daily morning message would be 4002. If you wish
to obtain or mirror the whole list, try ftping to ftp.icce.rug.nl, directory
/pub/unix, file linuxcookie.data.
But what's even more important than reading the list, is CONTRIBUTING to it!
If you have a cookie that is worthwile considering, please mail it to:
linuxcookies@cookie.icce.rug.nl
with an appropriate subject description. Please don't `reply' to this posting,
as it will go to the wrong address! Good sources for cookies are things people
may say, or quotes from magazines, or remarks you find in some source code
(especially remarks about other people's code!). Don't expect an immediate
response, or for that matter a response at all: I might be busy and I'd then
queue the cookies -- to process them later.
