Distributed Computing & Network Services -- Development
                            Analyst / Programmer II
                            MIT Position No. 93-0187A

MIT is set to expand our existing large-scale distributed computing environment
to include undergraduate and graduate living areas. In this effort, we expect a
new class of needs to arise, not the least of which is an explosion in the
variety of hardware and software platforms that we will need to support. MIT
Information Systems is looking for a multi-faceted individual with good
interpersonal skills, a grasp of project management concepts, and a desire to
improve the MIT residential living experience through information technology.
This individual will be a integral part of our software development and support
efforts as we embark on this major initiative.

Responsibilities include all of the normal programming areas: designing, coding,
debugging, testing, maintaining and documenting applications. This position,
however, will require someone who can go beyond the standard technical skills.
We need someone who can work well as a member of a large inter-departmental
team, who can communicate effectively with a large student resident population,
to understand their needs, and to translate those needs into manageable, and
deliverable work products.

Candidates should have recent experience in TCP/IP application development on
one or more of our supported platforms, namely, UNIX (Ultrix, AIX and Solaris),
Macintosh or Microsoft Windows, using C and C++. We will consider candidates
with experience in only one of these areas. Candidates must demonstrate their
ability to learn quickly the platforms on which they are not already skilled.

Apply by sending your resume and cover letter with salary requirements referencing Position No. 93-0187A to either:
