I am looking for a compression algorithm to use in some software I am developing. Does anyone know of any good algorithms and where I can find more information?
I have heard that the LZW (Lempel, Ziv, Welch) Dictionary Compression algorithm is good but have little data about it (especially information on whether or not it is patented). Please post any information to this list. Thanks.
