Not a formal meeting, just a few people gathered in the zone...
1. mwm transients - greg and craig will talk to alex about this.
greg does think we may need a mwm menu item to allow shifting transients.
2. craig has the inventor changes in testing (alex is helping)
3. greg has new partition tables for sun
4. system release notes are up-to-date (see directions below)
Kevin will be working on getting user release notes drafted.
5. install server has not been fixed for 8.1. current process is to
install 8.0, then update to 8.1. we should investigate upgrading --
this will be a task for miki (will solaris 2.5.1 require a new cnboot?)
6. pepe has died, tkl is operating in its place. this is one step
toward consolidating our install servers. ops is working on this.
7. we need to get another SGI for a build platform for release
engineering (Bill got the quote and we've ordered it!)
System Release Notes Instructions:
The system release notes are in
/afs/dev.mit.edu/project/relnotes/rel81.tex. To make a printout of
them on an Athena machine, do something like:
cd /var/tmp
cp -r /afs/dev.mit.edu/project/relnotes relnotes
cd relnotes
latex rel81
latex rel81
latex rel81
dvips -h duplex rel81
(You have to run latex once to create the auxiliary file with the page
numbers for everything, a second time to generate the table of
contents which causes all the page numbers to go up by one, and a
third time to use the correct page numbers.)
