My apologies for the delay.
Attending: wdc, ghudson, miki, dot, cfields, brlewis, jweiss, othomas,

1. SGI frame problem--we had a handful of reports that there was a
problem with rpcbind immediately following the update. however, these
have stopped.
DECISION: Watch for further occurences, but table for now.
2. Release Status: alpha postponed until the 14th. dot will check on
script, cfields/ghudson will take care of moira.
3. Patches 2.5.1
- ghudson will confer with jhawk about multicast patches
- all recommended plus security patches
- miki will grab copies of the patch sources to match
- no other patches are known to be needed
4. during update, there is a possibility on private WS that there
would not be sufficient local disk space available (especially on
SGI). There is not currently a mechanism to avoid this. Greg will
add a check, probably based on requiring some minimum to be free
before beginning the update. It will provide a warning or suggestion
to the user if there is insufficient space.
5. Round table
a. since cwis now provides a campus map, can we remove xinfo?
- decision: remove the prelogin option to run xinfo, and plan
to shift to cwis map support
b. applixware - several severe bugs (and failure modes) have
been reported with this package. recommendation: back
this out of service until we have a more stable version.
c. zip drives - looking into it.
d. sun sparc4 - X server apparent size is up; not real. if
these systems are slower, the problem is elsewhere.
e. control c patch for password tested. works as advertised.
