Having slept on the problem, flamed at jhawk, and otherwise contributed to
the problem, it is now time to look at solutions.
1. Implement jonathon's suggestion re a crontab hack to free the mail
on a daily basis
2. Implement some part of Mike's suggestions about publicizing the
problem. I suggest we need an OLC stock answer and publicity to the
informed user community (e.g. SIPB, consultants, maybe selected
cluster managers). The information needs to be clear and not
alarming.
3. Acknowledge Mike's help in raising awareness on this issue and
recruit his help in making sure that our hack does what we expect.
4. Continue to monitor the situation as far as our limited resources permit.
5. Plan on checking the situation with Solaris 2.5.1 and sendmail8
Unless someone tells me I'm full of it in the next 24 hours, I'll work
with Jonathon and Greg to get #1 into the field in a reasonable time
frame.
The release team will assign responsibility for the remaining action
items at the meeting next week (Tuesday, 12:30)
