I'm looking at /afs/athena.mit.edu/system/config/dash. Right now, the
release references dash menus as:
/afs/athena.mit.edu/system/config/dash/HOSTTYPE/Dash.menus.77
where HOSTTYPE is substituted in at build time. In actual practice,
all of the hosttypes are symlinks to ., and Dash.menus.80 is a symlink
to Dash.menus.77.
There's an obvious problem with the version number (since we're moving
to dotted triplets), but apart from that, I'd like to simplify matters
by just referencing the menus as:
/afs/athena.mit.edu/system/config/dash/Dash.menus
The Dash menus already have a way of selecting which platforms
specific items run on, so selecting by platform seems unnecessary.
Selecting by version seems to have only minor practical value, given
that we didn't use it in the last major release.
Am I going overboard here?
